Meet Eriqah - MN8Beauty's favorite logistics and event planner

A proud native of Newark, NJ, Eriqah R. K. Vincent is a 2010 departmental honors graduate of Spelman College with a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Women’s Studies. Currently Eriqah is the Just Energy Portfolio Manager for the Partnership for Southern Equity. In this position, Eriqah manages all aspects of the PSE’s Just Energy Portfolio including the functionality, programmatic work plan, and successful growth of the Just Energy Circle.

 

Her main personal and professional passion is to provide resources and in-depth leadership development to communities of color including, but not limited to, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, like her beloved alma mater. Her ultimate goal is to advance the presence of people of color in this movement.

While in school, Eriqah was an active member and on the executive board of several organizations including the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Spelman chapter. However it was her introduction to Students Endeavoring for Enlightened Environmental Decisions (SEeED), a Morehouse College chartered organization that helped her discover her passion for environmental justice and environmental sustainability. She went on to serve as Internal Director of that organization in her senior year and helped organize two of the largest African American student delegations to PowerShift, once in 2009 and again in 2011. Outside of school, Eriqah worked extensively with the Let’s Retrofit A Million Project (formerly Let’s Raise A Million), and was the Georgia Coal Diversity Organizer intern for the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE).

Eriqah is currently a member of the Diverse Environmental Leaders (DEL) National Speakers Bureau and the newly established Youth Perspective Climate Justice Work Group with the Environmental Protection Agency’s National Environmental Justice Advisory Council.

In 2017, she was just appointed the Board Chair of the HBCU Green Fund, an organization focused on supporting HBCUs in technology and community activism practices that can lead the way to these institutions providing a sustainable, Earth-friendly education for their students. Eriqah plans to start her master’s program soon to obtain an MPA in Nonprofit Management.
